Karen Bussing
Hi and welcome to our website!
If you would like to know a little bit about me, here's an overview of what I've been up to:
A bookkeeper for over 25 years, it all started in 1995 when a local legal firm gave me the big break I'd been waiting for – a move to the accounts department. I worked there for many happy years as a legal bookkeeper during which time I completed the Advanced Certificate of Accounting (now Cert IV) in 1998.
Following that role I worked as a bookkeeper for a local importing company and a local accounting firm before striking out on my own in 2010. During this time I also continued my accounting studies, completing the Advanced Diploma of Accounting in 2009 and starting the Graduate Certificate in Public Accounting at UNE in 2010. This course was put on hold while the business took off, but I have now completed it January 2016.
I am a proud member of the Institute of Certified Bookkeepers (ICB), and a founding member of the Australian Bookkeepers Association (ABA).
Xero loomed large in my life in 2011 when I realised just how much this revolutionary accounting system could benefit my clients. After many hours of research and training, I became a Xero Certified Advisor in 2012 and a Xero Payroll Specialist in 2013.
I spend my spare time keeping up-to-date on latest legislation and technology in the bookkeeping space and networking with other bookkeepers and BAS agents in an effort to encourage those who are new to the industry and to swap ideas with other seasoned professionals. I also run around on an indoor netball court once a week, go for a surf once in a blue moon, and annoy the family with my drumming.
A desire to help people, and a love of numbers, means that I'm in the perfect business.
